Text Me, Alexis!
What We Do: Text Me, Alexis! is a research study evaluating the optimal intervention for advancing trans women with HIV to viral suppression. The Text Me, Alexis! study is also conducting a cost-effectiveness analysis to estimate the cost of implement and sustaining each intervention.
Following the completion of all enrollment procedures, participants are randomized (by chance) into either Peer Health Navigation alone, Text Messaging alone, or a combined Peer Health Navigation + Text Messaging intervention. Those randomized into the Peer Health Navigation intervention receive unlimited Peer Health Navigation sessions for 3 months, those randomized into the Text Messaging intervention receive 3 text messages a day for 90 days, and those randomized into the combined Peer Health Navigation + Text Messaging intervention receive both interventions.
Participants are asked to complete all enrollment procedures in-person at the study site in Hollywood, and 4 follow-up assessments, also completed in-person at the Hollywood study site. Enrollment and follow-up procedures include a behavioral assessment completed on a laptop, a urine drug screen, and a blood sample drawn by a certified phlebotomist. Participants may earn up to $450 in gift cards.
